The team at Smoking Joe’s Honey needed a custom shed to store honey at cold temperatures. The structure had to support a fully integrated cool store, hold shelving and internal/external liners, and stand up to the weight of stored honey. Speed of construction and minimal site disruption were also key.
Everything was pre-fabricated offsite, including cleats and drill holes - making the assembly fast, clean, and accurate. There was no cutting, swarf, or grinding dust, and crucially, significant savings were made in onsite assembly costs.
As Warren Farr, General Manager of Central Steel Framing, explained:
“Everything that we’ve done is to minimise time onsite.”
The X-CALIBR™ team worked closely with Smoking Joe’s to customise the shed to meet their specific needs. From design to delivery, the process was focused on speed, simplicity, and strength.
Onsite, the CSF team worked alongside a construction crew using the system for the first time. Thanks to the clip-together assembly and pre-aligned connections, the build went smoothly. The construction team found the system easy to follow, fast to erect, and impressively precise.
Wallace Steel, owner of Smoking Joe’s, was impressed with the outcome:
“X-CALIBR™ was willing to customise it to our needs, which was going to save us quite a lot in assembly costs. I’m amazed at how fast it went up actually.”
The result? A durable, high-performance structure that was delivered on time and tailored to the needs of a fast-growing rural business.
As Hamish Coubray, General Manager of Rollforming Services (CSF’s sister company), put it:
“The beauty is in the simplicity. It’s easy to make something complicated—it’s complicated to make something simple. That’s the key to putting things up quickly.”
This project is a standout example of how X-CALIBR™ Roll-formed Structural Systems help rural and industrial clients build smarter—reducing waste, saving time, and delivering exceptional build quality.
